Happy National Napping Day!

Now THIS is a holiday I can really get into celebrating! ;)

Fireproof

Clayton and I watched this last night and I would classify it as a "must see" for married couples. Watch it. Now.

From the movie:

"Fireproof doesn't mean the fire will never come. It means when the fire comes that you will be able to withstand it. "

Shhhtuff I love.

  • I made the best chicken I ever have for dinner last night.
  • One word: CROCKPOT. We're having bean soup tonight and it's smells delish.
  • Losing my baby weight. 2 more lbs down. Yipee!
  • Caleb telling me he loves me (esp when I didn't have to say it first).
  • Owen coo-ing for the first time yesterday (and his recent smiles too!!)
  • Clayton and what an amazing husband and father he his.
  • My shark vac-then-steam mop.
  •  My dad and how close he is with Jme and I. AND his amazing girlfriend, Patty. I'm so glad he's happy.
  • Exchanging funny emails with Clayton through out the day while he's working.
  • Catching Caleb in his room reading a book by himself.
  • My sister and that she is moving back to Cincy!! Can't stress that one enough. SO HAPPY!
  • Owen's rockstar hair.
  • Being a mom.
  • My new camera lens adapters. I just got them yesterday and I can't wait to do a photoshoot with them.
  • My mom and the effort she has been making lately.
  • Being in the place in my life where I've always wanted to be.
  • My in-laws. I love living so close to all of them and am so thankful for all they do for us.
  • My smart phone.
  • Maria's snarkiness. And also how wonderfully things are going for her and Austin right now. :)
  • Avocados.
  • God's promise to give us the desires of our heart. And the amazing blessings when He does.
  •  Wheel of Fortune. (I have Dad and Patty to thank for that one. We watch it almost every night now.)
  • Spring, summer, and fall. :)
  • Claire and seeing her so happy. She deserves it.
  • Keeping the TV off and listening to music all day.
  • Robots.
  • The people and events that changed the course of my life so that I ended up right here, right now.
  • Being in love. <3
  • The amazing friends I made while working at Signature Hardware.
  • Seeing Owen grow and change every day. And that I'm not missing any of it.
  • Finding out I made a difference in someone's life.
  •  Having GPS in my car so that I'm never lost.
  • Being on time.
  • That Caleb pronounces the word "tickles" as "kickles". Sometimes I tickle him just so he'll say the word.
  • That Clayton is so involved in raising our children and we work as a team.
  • Taking a photo that really captures a moment.
  • Really great lyrics.
  • Counting my many blessings. <3
Disclaimer: This list is in no particular order and is not all encompassing. Because of time and space constraints, I could not possibly list everything and everyone I love.

This and That.

-Owen is 6 weeks old today. It's hard to believe that at this point with Caleb, I was going back to work. I can't imagine going back to work right now. I'm so thankful I get to be home with my boys and I don't have to miss anymore important milestones.

-Today Owen was grunting and Caleb said "Mom, he's growling!" The thought of a newborn baby growling makes me laugh.

-Today I taught Caleb to sing the "I'm in the Lord's Army" song and do the motions. I got it on video and it's hilarious. Someone remind me to upload and share it sometime.

-Now that I've been cleared by my doctor, operation "get in shape and lose this baby weight" is now in progress. Someone should occasionally ask me about that as well... but please make no references to the baby chub around my mid section. This is a sensitive subject.

4 Years of Wedded Bliss

The past four years have been a wonderful adventure and a bit of a whirlwind of significant life events.

Here are the major highlights Clayton and I have shared since we said "I do":

1. We both graduated college with Bachelor's degrees.
2.We both got our first "real" jobs.
3. We purchased our first home.
4. We got a puppy.
5. We had a precious baby boy.  <3
6. I started a photography business.
7. We got another puppy. (What were we thinking?!?)
8. Clayton started and finished his Master's degree. (He worked incredibly hard, got very little sleep and I'm SO proud of him!)
9. I quit work to be a stay at home mom and focus on my photo business.
10. We had another precious baby boy. <3

Clayton, it's been a wild ride thus far and I can't imagine having done any of it without you. I certainly couldn't ask for a better husband or a more amazing father for our children. I'm so blessed to have you and I'm looking forward to many, many more great adventures together. Happy anniversary, My Love.

A Little Baby Love

I can't believe Owen turned 5 weeks old yesterday. Time is flying and I'm trying to soak up every precious minute.

Caleb helped me take a few pics today. He's such a good helper. :)

It's the little things...

This made me smile today.

Caleb was eating a snack (some peanuts in a little bowl) and I was downstairs putting a load of laundry in. I came back up and was picking up things around the house, and a little while later I happened to look in the sink and see this:

While this might not seem like a big deal to most, for an almost three year old, IT SO IS! The fact that he didn't leave the bowl in the middle of the living room floor or sitting on the ottoman is huge. Add to that the fact that it's placed so perfectly and so neatly in the center of the sink AND that I've been working really hard to keep our house clean... it melted my heart.

I have the two best kids ever. <3

Love this:

The Shark 2 in 1 Vac Then Steam Mop. I recently bought one of these and I LOVE it.

With hardwood and tile floors throughout my house, two dogs and two kids, this little baby is such a time saver. I love that it is small, lightweight, and that I only need one machine to both vacuum and mop. The steam mop sanitizes and also dries almost instantly so I don't have to worry about Caleb slipping and falling on a wet floor.

The other awesome part: Caleb thinks I bought this for his own personal amusement and runs around the house like I'm chasing him while I use it. When the steam function is on, he runs from me yelling "Aaaaah SMOKE!" It's a cleaning appliance and priceless entertainment for toddlers all in one! ;)

Making New Habits and Routines

I'm still settling into this whole "stay at home mom with two kids" thing and we're slowly starting to get into the swing of things.

In between feeding, burping, washing bottles, changing diapers, building train tracks, reading 18 Dr. Seuss books, and the occasional cup of coffee, I'm slowly trying to get my house in order after several months of major neglect. I've been feeling really inspired in the cleaning department lately and I hope I can keep it up. I started using this website to start building new habits for keeping a clean and de-cluttered house. The website is a little confusing to navigate at first, but once you get it figured out, this lady is basically a personal trainer for house cleaning (which I desperately need). She's all about taking baby steps and making habits and routines out of them. It's only been a week, but so far so good. I'd highly recommend her and Clayton is also thrilled with the transformation already. Athough I will warn you, she isn't joking when she says she sends out a LOT of emails. I just delete the ones that don't interest me though. No biggie.

Other than that, we're just enjoying the boys and this phase of our life right now. I really don't know if we've ever been this happy. We're feeling incredibly blessed for so many reasons. :)

PS - Owen is 5 weeks old today. He's getting so big so fast! I can't believe it!!
